Panama. January 21, 2019. Pilgrims traveling to Panama for World Youth Day with Pope Francis will have an opportunity to encounter the life, faith and work of the famous Catholic architect Antoni Gaudi in the exhibit, Gaudi, Son of Mary.
This project, which was specifically designed for World Youth Day Panama, explores the relationship between Gaudi and the theme that Pope Francis chose for this World Youth Day, "Behold, the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38).
!This exhibit, brought to WYD through the sponsorship of the Pontifical Council for Culture and the collaboration of the Basilica of the Holy Family, seeks to project the life of the famous architect and his devotion to the Virgin Mary as a way of life towards Jesus.
!Exhibit curator Chiara Curti, herself an architect by profession, was inspired by the fact that the disciples of Gaudi often explained his life through stories. This was the inspiration for designing the exhibit as though it were an Instagram story.
!Gaudi, Son of Mary will be on exhibition in the auditorium of the Biomuseo. The exhibit opened Monday, January 21 at 10:30am and can be viewed for free during the museum’s opening hours until February 7. The exhibit will have extended hours, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., from January 22 to 26, during the World Youth Day.
